Our U12A girls travelled to league leaders Freebooters on Saturday who have won all their league games so far. The Thomastown rear guard of Saoirse Roche, Olivia Barron & the outstanding Ellen Nugent nullified Booters attack & at half time it was nil all. Early in the second half Ruby Collins scored with a beauty of a free kick from 20 yards to put us 1 up. The pressure came on & Booters equalized with 12 minutes to go & nearly took the lead a few minutes later only for a brilliant save from keeper Mollie Cottrell. It wasn't all one-way traffic with the blistering pace of Mia Brennan, Aoibhinn Kelly & Zoe Brandon causing plenty of problems for Freebooters. The game finished 1 all & it was a brilliant & resolute performance from a great bunch of girls who have improved with every game. Player of the match was a tough pick but it goes to defender Olivia Barron who tackled & harried Booters star striker from the first minute to the final whistle. Final Score 1-1
