Our U16 Schoolgirls got their first point of the season with a battling well-earned draw away in Goresbridge against Bridge United. on a pitch left rough and hard to play on with the recent bad weather, the home team took the lead when a long-range free kick looped over the Thomastown's goalkeepers head. Thomastown responded well and got the equaliser on the stoke of half time with a super strike from Blanaid Mullins.
All though the second half produced no more goals, this didn't de-value the entertainment served up by both teams. The highlight been a midfield battle with no quarter asked or given, some of the tackles were a throwback to a bygone era and not for the squeamish (for the older folk here think of Thomastown United vs Jerpoint Forest battles in the past)
Credit to both teams for producing a fine spectacle and a draw was probably the fairest result. Final Score 1-1
