Thomastown United 1-1 Freebooters Fc

Always going to be a tough game against Freebooters in this Cup Final, during the year in the League they won at home and we then bet them in United Park. Teams very even going into the game.

Took 16 minutes for Colm Treacy to open the scoring and put us in front but just 7 mins later Freebooters got their deserved equaliser. Both teams creating chances from then until full time but no one able to find the net. Then comes extra time and even that could separate the sides. And when it came to penalties anyone associated with Thomastown United know it’s been a few years since we were successful in Derdimus and would need help to get over the line and that help this evening came from our Number 1 Alex Begley (Grandson of Founding member Bart Begley) who saved 4 spot kicks and help Thomastown to the League and Cup Double for 2022. Massive congrats to all the lads and Jack and Bob who have put in Trojan work throughout the year. Enjoy lads !! 💙🤍
