On Monday afternoon the U13B schoolgirls took on Freebooters away at Fairgreen Kilkenny. Thomastown took the lead with 10 minutes left in the first half, the goal was a superb free kick by Megan Walsh from an acute angle. The girls continued their good form into the second half but Freebooters equalised from a corner against the run of play.
Thomastown again took the lead when second half substitute Lily Cullen scored. However the home team again equalised after they were awarded a free kick near the end of the game just outside the box. The initial shot was blocked by the Thomastown defenders but the loose ball was poked home by a Freebooters player, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
Big shoutout to centre half Emma Walsh for her contribution again today and the improvements to her game throughout the season.
The girls have a cup semifinal against Evergreen to look forward to now.
