On Monday evening our U13B Schoolgirls took on Stoneyford Utd away in the first round of their Cup Competition. The first half was fairly even as both defences dominated, condition not helped by a dry hard pitch, and resulted in a 0-0 half-time scoreline. As it has being their way in matches Thomastown came out stronger in the second half and dominated for large parts but couldn't find a way through and the game finished 0-0.

With fading light it was agreed 5 minutes of extra time each way was played but still no breakthrough from either team so it was the dreaded penalties up next. Stoneyford missed their opening two penalties, the second a brilliant save from the Ice Cool' Thomastown goalkeeper Katie Davis. The Thomastown converted both their opening penalties through Meagan and Sophie to put them in control. On the 3rd round Stoneyford scored for the first time as did Katie Begley to make it 3-1 to Thomastown.

The pressure was again on Stoneyford who had to score to stay in the competition, but Katie had other ideas and pulled off another great save to put the girls through to the next round of the competition.

From the disappointment of losing in Cavan last week to the excitement of a penalty shoot-out victory in Stoneyford, these girls really know how to test your heartbeat!!!
