Last night our u16 Schoolboys travelled to Callan requiring only a draw to secure the league title, but there was no need to worry with the boys turning on the style to win by a 7-0 score line. It was a great squad effort with five different players on the score sheet. Conor Monks opened the scoring with his first goal of the season and what a time to score it. Thomastown continued to create chances and the ever reliable Eanna O Keeffe added a second to make it 2-0 at half time.

The lads knew if they kept their heads and continued playing football more chances would come, they did just that when Liam Thompson scored to make it 3-0 and cue the celebrations. a fourth goal soon followed from the brilliant Colm Treacy to finish the game off. Thomastown emptied the bench but it did not weaken the team in any way, Conor Barcoe added a 5th with a great finish inside the box. It was now party time now but the lads weren't happy until the young Darragh Dack got on the score sheet, his chance came when Thomastown were awarded a penalty and regular penalty taker, Colm Treacy, unselfishly stepped aside to let Darragh have is moment. However the Callan goalkeeper pulled off a great save but Liam Thompson was on hand to score the rebound with his second goal of the game. Darragh was not to be denied when Thomastown were awarded a second penalty with the last kick of the game. This time, with great encouragement from team mates he couldn't miss and his goal was the most celebrated by all players towards one of the most popular players in the squad. With that the final whistle blew and Thomastown were confirmed as League Champions!!!

The team were unbeaten in their last 8 games, winning 7 of those matches. This was the 1st league title for some of the players while others were celebrating their 2nd or 3rd or like Sean Denieffe and Eanna O Keeffe who were winning their 4th title.

The league title may have been confirmed last night in Callan but it was games like away to Evergreen when Sean Denieffe scored with 2 minutes to go to win the game or when Eanna O Keeffe scored late twice in games against nearest rival Freebooters to earn a win and a draw respectively.

They are a special bunch of players both on and off the pitch and duly earned their reward, up next is the cup competition and if they play like they played all season in the league they will go far in the competition,

A special thanks to Jack and Bob for all their hard work looking after the team throughout the season.
