It was an early start on Sunday morning for our U12 Schoolgirls in the next round of their adventures in the National Cup. A three hour journey to Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan was their reward for qualifying for the last eight of the competition.

The girls started strongly and created a couple of early chances, then with 10 minutes gone in the game Thomastown earned a corner, Megan Walshe swung in a great ball which was beautifully controlled by Sophie McCabe who smashed it into the home teams net. Ballyhaise were awarded a penalty late in the half but it was missed and Thomastown went into the half time break one goal up.

The home team came out strong in the second half and quickly equalised. both teams gave their all for the rest of the match and then when it just looked like the match was heading to extra time, Ballyhaise grabbed a late winner to break the Thomastown girls hearts.

The journey is now over for the girls and their management team of Joey, Ian and Paddy. what they have achieved is amazing and wonderful and done the club proud.

Big thanks to all the parents and girls from U13 team who travelled all the way to Cavan offering the girls great support.

Well done to Ballyhaise and best of luck in the next round and thanks for their hospitality and refreshments after the game. and also the Easter Eggs which were given to all our players.
