On Saturday the U13B Schoolgirls travelled away to Castlecomer to play Deen Celtic in freezing cold weather conditions. The home team, who are new to the league, were an unknown prospect to the Thomastown girls and proved to be a tough opponent.

This proved to be the case when the Deen Celtic took the lead midway through the first half and held on till the break.

Thomastown improved in the second half but couldn't get the equaliser their play deserved until Sophie McCabe broke through from the halfway line, her pace and control of the ball was topped off by a great finish. The home team had a big chance to win the game late on but a great goal line clearance by Emma Walsh meant the game finished in a fair 1-1 draw.

A tough and equal battle between two strong teams who gave everything.

Player of the game was Clodagh Galway who marshalled the defence for Thomastown.
