Thomastown Utd U12 Schoolgirls took on Broadford Utd from Limerick in the last 32 of the SFAI National Cup at home on Saturday. The first half proved to be a close tight affair with very few chances as both got to know each other, resulting in a 0-0 scoreline at halftime.

A halftime chat from their manager proved dividends as the Thomastown girls came a different team for the second half. The game's only goal came when the home team goalkeeper Katie Davis found Megan Walsh with a great pass, Megan played a superb through ball for Lily Cullen to run onto, Lily, whose lightening pace troubled the away team throughout the second half, outpaced the defence to score the winner.

The Thomastown defence were outstanding again, a 'brickwall' who Broadford couldn't get past, particularly Shauna Doherty at right back. Overall everyone of the girls played their part in an excellent victory in front of unbelievable home support.
