Thomastown U17 boys suffered a 2 nil loss in United Park against table toppers Freebooters. The first half an hour was an even affair with only a few half chances for both teams with the best for Thomastown falling to captain Jimmy Maher who didn’t make the connection he hoped for. Freebooters took the lead on 35 minutes from a cross which was toe poked pass keeper Alex Begley. There was nothing Alex could do about the second a few minutes later which was a rocket from the 25 yards which went in off the crossbar. The home team were rattled now & only for some brave saves from Alex the home team would have been well behind. Thomastown completely dominated the second half but couldn’t convert any of the chances that fell to Aaron Hughes, Cormac Moore & Conor Monks. Overall it was a good performance from the home team with Jack Kiely excelling at centre half.
