The U10 boys entertained Evergreen today at a windy United Park. Playing with the wind in the first half Thomastown took the lead through Leon Phelan who weaved his way through a host of defenders & buried a shot to the roof of the net. Evergreen struck back to take the lead with two quick goals before Cian Lanigan took over for the home team. After a mazy run Cian finished smartly to level the game. Thomastown retook the lead when the little magician Leon Phelan played a beautiful reverse pass that took out 3 defenders & released Cian Lanigan for his second of the game. Thomastown were leading 3-2 at half time but faced a strong breeze in the second half. Despite the weather Thomastown held their own with keeper George Dalton Dunne making some great saves & Sean Kennedy making some superb blocks. But with 12 minutes to play Evergreen drew level & unfortunately went ahead with a belter a few minutes later. The home didn’t give up & Evergreens keeper had to make good saves from Aaron Phelan, Cian Lanigan & Leon Phelan. Two late goals for Evegreen was harsh on the home team but they can be proud of a brilliant performance. Leon Phelan was excellent but man of the match goes to Jack Donald who was a powerhouse throughout the whole game.
