Thomastown U14 Schoolgirls played their first match of the Schoolgirls National Cup on Saturday afternoon against Coolboy Rangers from the Wicklow League. The home team was made up from an amalgamation of our U13 and younger members of U15 league teams. In a tight close game there was very little between both teams throughout the match. The Thomastown defensive line were particularly strong and impressive and kept the Coolboy forwards quite especially their star centre forward who was out of game for large parts of it.

The second half followed much the same pattern as the first but the home team did create the better chances. Then, with extra time looming 'Captain Marvel' Anna Morrissey reacted first to a defensive error in the Coolboy penalty area to score the only goal of the game, It was a goal and a win that the girls deserved for all their efforts throughout the match.

They advance to the next round with another home game in two weeks time.
