On Saturday afternoon our Junior team travelled to the heart of inner Dublin to take on Aungier Celtic in the LFA Junior Cup. Played on an artificial pitch Thomastown started brightly and scored in the 18th minute when Nathan Sherry tapped in at the far post from a low cross to quieten the home supporters. The home team responded and came more into the game, Celtic had the ball twice in the Thomastown net but both times the goals were disallowed from infringements in the box. Then on the 36th minute Stephen Connolly out jumped the Celtic defence to flick a Mark Delahunty free kick in the net to double Thomastowns's lead. The home team managed to pull one goal back before the half time break with a powerful header from a corner.

Both teams created chances in the second half but failed to add to their scores, with Thomastown goalie, Jack Cullen, producing the save of the match midway through the half. Thomastown held on for a famous victory and now advance to the last 16 of the competition.

UPDATE: The club has been drawn against Kilbarrack Utd in the Last 16 round of the competition. The match will take place on Sunday 20th of February at United Park
