Thomastown U17 Schoolgirls welcomed a hotly fancied St. Pats from Carlow to United Park on Saturday. The away team took an early lead but Thomastown fought back and equalised through a Caoimhe Keher penalty. St Pats scored a second goal to lead 2-1 at halftime, against the run of play.
Thomastown came flying out of the traps in the second half and quickly equalised again with a fantastic strike by Orlaith Kirwan. The home team stared to dominate the game from then on and a second goal each from Orlaith and Caoimhe gave them a 4-2 lead. St. Pats scored a late consolation goal by Thomastown girls held on for a fantastic 4-3 victory to remain top of the table.
