The years were rolled back on Saturday evening in United Park when managers and social soccer friends came together to mark the second of Joe (Jagger) Wemyss. Played on a beautiful pitch on a beautiful end of October day, he would have being proud of the display given by all players, ranging in age from 40 to 64.

David McDowell opened the scoring for the Blue Team and looked like holding onto their lead till half-time but a dreadfully mistimed tackle by Jamie Wemyss on his brother Davy resulted in a penalty. Davy dusted himself down to score passed Ibraham Osman for the equalising goal. The super John (Lacko) Lancashire got a quick fire second, with the Yellow Team leading 2-1 at halftime.

The introduction of Gordon Byrne to the Blue Team paid instant dividend (after 20 years of trying) by lobbing Tom Buckley from 30 yards for the equaliser. With the Yellow Team starting to run out of steam, especially the lynchpin of the team their 2ft 2in Stephen (Boner) O Neill-Croke, it came as no surprise when Jamie Wemyss redeemed himself by making it 3-2 to the Blue Team.

JJ Nolan, after dashing all the way back from Durrow, scored from all of 2 yards with the final kick of the game.

The club would like to thank all participating players, organisers and cake maker Brid for their contribution and helping raise over 400 Euro for Breast Cancer Ireland. Well done and Jagger would be proud!!
