A very competitive game today against Vale Wanderers from Carlow resulted in a 2 to 1 win to the home team courtesy of Kaspar Konopka who scored 2 first half goals.
Vale Wanderers a very good footballing side from Carlow provided stiff opposition but the home team managed to produce a result. Thomastown had more chnances to score and came close from John Mc Carthy,Conor Hayes and Mikey Thomas but the Vale goalkeeper managed to frustrate the opportunities
Great performances from Mikey Knox, Aaron Hughes and the back line ensured that the amount of shots on goal were kept to a minimum and Robert Power as the net minder was a safe pair of hands.
A masterful performance from Luke Mc Mina and the midfield ensured a high standard of football was maintained throughout the the game and Thomastown were in control for a good portion of the game but when we were under pressure after Vale scored from a free kick the whole team responded in a positive manner .
A very professional performance from the match refereee Vinny Kiely and a sporting approach from Valve Wanderers resulted in a passionate and entertaining contest.
