Our U12 boys travelled to Crettyard today in the first round of the SFAI cup & came away with a resounding 9-0 win. Centre forward Cian Lanigan got us off to the perfect start after 3 minutes when he skinned the defender & finished powerfully. Cian got the second in a carbon copy of the first & winger Danny White toe poked home to make it 3. It wasn’t all one way traffic with Crettyard hitting both posts & Thomastown cleared another of line. Thomastown scored again just before half time when Michael Kirwan played a defence splitting pass to his centre midfield partner Ryan Spelman who raced through & slotted the fourth. Into the second half & the away team made 4 substitutions bringing on birthday boy Leon Phelan, Alex Quinn, Craig Walsh & James Tierney. The substitutes made an immediate impact when Alex played a superb pass to James & James made no mistake when through on goal. Soon after James got his second & then set up Michael Kirwan for our 7th. Cian Lanigan & James Tierney both completed their hat tricks in last ten minutes to send Thomastown into the next round in 2 weeks time against Bagenalstown.
