Our U12 girls white team began their season in a sunny Goresbridge on Saturday afternoon. Despite being short a few players & the intense heat the girls put in a massive effort today. Things looked good for Thomastown when they took the lead through Sophia McDonagh who was played through the home team’s defence & finished brilliantly. Lara Fargie had an effort saved & keeper Aoibhinn Muldoon was keeping the away side in it with some superb saves. Unfortunately Bridge scored two quick goals just before the break to lead 2-1 at half time.
The killer blow came straight after the restart when Bridge got their third. The Thomastown girls never gave up & Rosie Madigan was unlucky not to pull one back with a shot from distance. Bridge got a late fourth to leave the final score at 4-1. It was a commendable effort from the girls in the heat & especially since most of them had a blitz in the morning too. Player of the match goes to keeper Aoibhinn Muldoon who was outstanding in the goal for the whole game.
