Our U12A girls hosted Deen Celtic in the cup quarter final on Wednesday evening & it turned out to be an enthralling encounter. The first half was a closely matched affair but Deen Celtic managed to take the lead when their county centre forward beat the offside trap to toe poke past onrushing keeper Mollie Cottrell. Both teams had chances in the remainder of the half but if finished 0-1 at half time. The home team flew out of the blocks in the second half & completely dominated from start to finish. The dynamic Ava Begley who came on at half time tormented the away teams defense & was aided by Ruby Collins who was pulling all the strings in the centre of the park. Our biggest threat came from our lightning quick wingers Mia Brennan & Aoibhinn Kelly who created & had the best chances to equalize. When Aoibhinn burst through the Comer defense it looked like the equalizer was certain only for the Deen Celtic keeper to make a great block. The away team still threatened on the break but Ellen Nugent, Olivia Barron & the excellent Saoirse Roche kept them at bay with the aid of Rachel Dunne playing as the 6. Into the last 10 & Thomastown ramped up the pressure but could not find the goal to bring it to extra time despite setting up camp in the Comer half. Overall it was a brilliant effort from the girls who gave their all & the management team couldn't have asked for anymore & we hope to see all the girls back for next season. Final Score 0-1

Team - Mollie Cottrell, Sophie Wilson, Ellen Nugent(C), Saoirse Roche, Mia Brennan, Lily Dimond, Ruby Collins, Aoibhinn Kelly, Rachel Dunne, Olivia Barron, Eabha Murphy, Zoe Brandon, Ava Begley.
