On Saturday morning the U14B Schoolgirls played league leaders Evergreen in the league at home in United Park. This was going to be a real test for the girls as they were up against an Evergreen team who had won all previous 6 matches. The Thomastown girls started the game well and controlled the early part of the game, however Evergreen scored against the run of play to take an early lead.

This didn't faze home team and they continued to play the better football, Sophie McCabe picked up the ball in midfield and went on a great solo run, passed four Evergreen defenders and slid the ball into the corner to equalise.

The home team management changed formation for the second half and it started to pay dividends, Orla Sutton found Meghan Walsh with a great ball and Meghan scored to give the girls a deserved lead.

Evergreen pushed on but couldn't get passed the strong defensive partnership of Hannah O Reilly and Sara Woods. Megan Walsh found Sophie McCabe who volleyed home with a superb strike into the top corner to but the game out of reach. A brilliant all round team performance today and a great morale booster for the rest of the season.

The management added that with such a large squad not all girls got to play today but remain a big part of the squad and produced great encouragement to their team mates during the match. Final Score 3-1
