Thomastown U14 win again: East End 1 Thomastown Athletic 3. The U14 team continued their good start to the season with an excellent away victory over East End. The home team started the game brightly and had a few half chances which they failed to take. Thomastown were slowly coming into the game when East End struck with a goal into the left hand corner to open the scoring. Thomastown were under the cosh for about five minutes after the goal, but took control when a Davy Holden free kick somehow evaded the East End keeper. With the score level at one all, it was game on!
Thomastown took the game by the scruff when another well worked Davy Holden free kick was headed home by the impressive Ellen Molloy, giving Thomastown a one goal lead at half time. East End came out with all guns blazing in the second half but the Thomastown defence held firm. Midway through the second half, the ball fell to Eanna O’Keeffe. He had one touch to take it out of his feet before unleashing a sweet left foot strike that looped in over the keeper’s head. Thomastown saw out the game to win 3-1 and gain three valuable points. There were great performances throughout the field, with Aaron Hughes and Conor Monks playing particularly well.
