Under 12 league winners Thomastown United travelled to the sunny south east venue of Curracloe United where they took on their Kilkenny rivals Evergreen in the SFAI South East Regional Final. The Thomastown men, led by captain Colm Treacy stood arm in arm for the national anthem with pride in their jerseys before taking to the field in a slightly different formation with Conor Monks playing a more defence role and Seán Denieffe playing in a more supportive role to the two front men consisting of Colm Treacy and Éanna O' Keeffe. In an evenly contested first half, neither team gave an inch until the seventh minute when Evergreen managed to sneak one past the Thomastown defence after a well taken corner. The boys in blue settled down quickly and showed their determination and played some great football and while Evergreen was dangerous on the break, Alex Begley continuously raced of his line to mop up any incoming threat which gave Thomastown the opportunity to push forward. After some great team football, Cian Farrell played a super ball into Seán Denieffe, who in turn was pulled down by the Evergreen defence for a free kick on the edge of the box. Up stepped the cool, calm and collected Treacy who rattled the net with a superbly taken free kick with a minute to go to half time.
Thomastown started the second half on the front foot and almost got a second when Cian Farrell hit the cross bar from a distance. Evergreen continued to break forward using their blistering pace up the wings but time after time, Shane Simpson, Conor Monks, Tyler Nolan and Conor Kelly in the Thomastown defence snuffed out any threat. Eventually Evergreen's pacey forward broke through and fired an unstoppable shot into the corner of the net to go 2-1 up with only 8 minutes to go. Thomastown pushed for the equaliser but Evergreen broke again with minutes to go to secure the victory.
In a game which easily could have gone Thomastown's way, the score line did not do justice to the performance that the boys in blue gave. In what was an amazing journey which started last September and saw Thomastown giving blood sweat and tears in every game that they played. The boys have done themselves, their families and their club proud in their achievements in this season seeing them becoming league champions in which they won 10 games in a row, reaching the last 16 in the country in the SFAI Sketcher cup, reaching the SFAI South East Regional Final and getting to the quarter final of the under 12 cup.

The future of Thomastown United looks bright. #WeGoAgain.
